| Four Signs that it’s Time to Adjust Your Mindset

| Four Signs that it’s Time to Adjust Your Mindset

It sounds quite simple but ultimately how we look at our lives is fundamental to whether or not we’re going to be happy or unhappy. If you are constantly consumed by negative thoughts, worries and stress, you’ll feel unsatisfied and unhappy with how your life is going – the risk is then that your perception then becomes your reality.

This is why working on your mindset is so important and can make a huge difference to your life.

The four signs that it’s time to adjust your mindset are:

  1. You focus on everything that’s going wrong
  2. You refuse to face the truth
  3. You become angry when your expectations aren’t met
  4. You always see yourself as a victim

If you feel you are experiencing any of these, working on, and adjusting your mindset can have a huge impact on your life, wellbeing and emotional stability.

Watch my latest video for more detailed examples of how these signs may be affecting your life:

Recognising and learning your behaviour patterns is one of the first steps to take and in my next video, I’ll share some tips on how you can begin to make a change in your life.

Stress Relief Series | Techniques for managing Stress and Anxiety

This week I wanted to share a technique I’ve used when I’ve been feeling stressed or anxious. A number of years ago I had a serious anxiety breakdown and as a result of that I was having frequent and quite overwhelming panic attacks, brought on by the culmination of a lot of things.

One of the coping strategies which helped enormously when I was in a fearful state was meditation – specifically spending a few minutes focusing on my breath.

Meditation has had the biggest impact on me in finding ways to manage and cope with anxiety. Often, if we suffer from stress and anxiety it can be something that we are often prone to at different stages of our lives, even though you may have come through it in the past.

We need effective strategies to cope, we live in a world of constant fear and pressure and it’s easy to get the sense of feeling stressed and overwhelmed – being able to practice mediation and breathing doesn’t have to mean sitting for hours – it’s about focussing on your breath, simply and purely.

If you are particularly struggling with stress at this moment, actually focussing onto your breath and being able to shift your sense of stress and fear and concentrate on a different part of your body and re-directing your energy will create a break or shift in your thoughts.

A simple technique is to feel the breath – watch my latest video for a step by step guide – Stress Relief Series | Techniques for managing Stress and Anxiety on my YouTube channel:

I’ve also created a meditation which I’ve found really useful and use frequently with my clients, it focusses on getting out of your head and into your heart and intuition, you can find this in our Facebook Group – if you haven’t joined, you can do so HERE

If you have any tips or suggestions on what you do to help yourself in times of stress, please let me know, helping each other and being positive and supportive makes a huge difference to our well-being!

Warmly, Anne

This week, in Part 2 of our ‘Going from stressed to serene this summer’ Series, we’re focusing on how to stop obsessing about a particular goal or outcome.

Without us realising, this can be a continual drain on us, particularly at this time of the year. We usually start January with our New Year Resolutions, feeling excited about all the things we’d like to do and make happen and then we get to this time of year and feel like we’ve been working really hard and not quite achieved everything we’d set out to – our energy seems to wane, our adrenalin and momentum begin to disappear and we’re likely to feel disappointed with ourselves.

If you had goals you wanted to achieve but haven’t quite got there, even though you’ve tried your best – this can be when stress and burnout can hit us – you’ll find that when you want to switch off or go away on holiday, its really difficult and your mind is constantly focussing on your list of things to do.

I’ve learnt to try not to be too laser focused on particular goals, letting go, trusting and allowing the answers to come in a different way to what you may have expected will help to alleviate the stress you may be feeling. When you can do this, you’ll be amazed at the things which open up to you – other opportunities, new adventures, different ways of thinking!

Let go, push through the fear, and remember – you’re being looked after!

Stress Relief series: How to go from stressed to serene this summer!

Stress Relief series: How to go from stressed to serene this summer!

This week we’re focusing on how we go from stressed to serene this summer. Do you recognise this scenario?

You’ve been busy for the last few months juggling family, work commitments, relationships etc and you finally get to the summer and you’re READY for you holiday! You’re feeling really tired and can’t wait to get there, but find that when you do, you’re unable to switch off and rest.

Relaxing is one of the big problems I’ve experienced, I would finally sit down and tell myself that this is the time to rest and re-charge but then somehow I couldn’t switch off or stop worrying and thinking about things I hadn’t done yet.

We can get stuck in a negative worry cycle and inner critic consciousness telling us we don’t deserve to have time off – of course there is another way!

Here’s a few tips that have helped me and women I’ve worked with actually stop trying to do it all and find that when you do get away you’re able to let go and release the worry, fear and anxiety –  that’s obviously what holidays should be about – getting out in the sunshine, going out in the evening and spending quality time by ourselves and with our families.

We work so much with our left brain – which is responsible for thinking, analysing and organising – the active managing part of our brain, when we stop using our left brain the right brain kicks in, it’s about looking at things differently, having fun and letting go. Going slower and switching off, sadly what can happen – when we’re so used to being in left brain, is that we don’t give ourselves time to use the right brain, when we switch off our right brain doesn’t know what to do as we’re so programmed to be constantly ‘doing’.

People think gosh! I have time to think, be self-aware and this can bring up a huge amount of fear. We need space and time to reconnect and re-energize. We are cyclical beings; we’re supposed to have times of rest and recovery.

As this week goes on, I’ll be here every day sharing ideas and tips on how you can help this process before and during your holiday. You’ll begin to step back and stop taking life at such a hectic pace.

I look forward to you joining me!

5 Secrets on how to find balance in your life.

5 Secrets on how to find balance in your life.

Are you feeling drained and lacking in energy? In this week’s video I talk about 3 easy hacks on how to boost your energy and recharge.

Implementing these 3 easy steps can make you feel good about yourself again:

  1. Ask yourself, what is your current battery percentage? If you were a battery and 100% was full of energy, feeling positive, confident and full of life and 0% was feeling exhausted, drained and lacking motivation.  What percentage would you put yourself at?  When we recognize that our battery may be running a bit low – it’s the first step towards making a change.

  1. How can you recharge yourself? Think about what is it that’s making you feel more drained, is it a situation? a person? a relationship? Work? something inside yourself that your struggling with? – knowing what it is that’s making your feel low lets you begin thinking about how you can move on.

  1. How can you create more joy in your life? What lifts you up? Is it people that lift you up, does spending time with them make you feel better? Is it a hobby or something that you haven’t done for a long time that gives you a sense of calm and contentment? Is it being creative or spending time outdoors? All of these can make us feel more energised.

Spending a couple of minutes each day asking yourself these questions and listening to the answers will help you feel more in control and immediately boost your energy.
