This week, in Part 2 of our ‘Going from stressed to serene this summer’ Series, we’re focusing on how to stop obsessing about a particular goal or outcome.
Without us realising, this can be a continual drain on us, particularly at this time of the year. We usually start January with our New Year Resolutions, feeling excited about all the things we’d like to do and make happen and then we get to this time of year and feel like we’ve been working really hard and not quite achieved everything we’d set out to – our energy seems to wane, our adrenalin and momentum begin to disappear and we’re likely to feel disappointed with ourselves.
If you had goals you wanted to achieve but haven’t quite got there, even though you’ve tried your best – this can be when stress and burnout can hit us – you’ll find that when you want to switch off or go away on holiday, its really difficult and your mind is constantly focussing on your list of things to do.
I’ve learnt to try not to be too laser focused on particular goals, letting go, trusting and allowing the answers to come in a different way to what you may have expected will help to alleviate the stress you may be feeling. When you can do this, you’ll be amazed at the things which open up to you – other opportunities, new adventures, different ways of thinking!
Let go, push through the fear, and remember – you’re being looked after!
